Even though I have been a teacher for almost 10 years, I still found the first week being an ECt hectic. Setting up experiences, organizing paper work, meeting families, orientations, introducing new routines to the children...., a non-stop list.
The children seemed to respond to me in this week. However, not every child accepted the new routines very well. Have I pushed too hard? Should i loosen up a bit since it's the beginning of the year?
I keep reminding myself that i have to make consequenses possible to be followed up. It's hard, though, to remember the principle while encountering children's challenging behaviour.
I have to keep working on my emotional control and not letting children's misbehalf effect my thoughts and decision-making.
Next week - enquiries of children's interests for experiences in the room.
